Promotions

All promotions will require the employee, with the approval of the appropriate supervisor or Associate Dean, to complete a Job Description Form. This is done only when the existing duties and responsibilities have increased from the current classification description. The appropriate member of President's Cabinet must sign all Job Description Forms.  Job Description Forms are sent to Personnel Operations for proper classification. The exception to completing a Job Description Form will be an in-series change. For example, Tradesworker II to Tradesworker III. This requires a memorandum from the employee's supervisor with the new classification description attached and signed by all parties. In addition, a recent, above-satisfactory performance evaluation must be on file detailing the duties the employee is performing above their current job classification.

For each grade of promotion the employee will receive a 5.0% increase (never to exceed 10.0%) or the minimum of the new pay grade, whichever is greater. In no case may the new salary exceed the maximum of the new grade. Employees promoted must serve a one hundred twenty (120) day probationary period in the new classification within the Professional and Technical Staff Salary Schedule. For classifications that have multiple grade levels (e.g. Tradesworker I, II, III) the employee may be recommended for reclassification by their supervisor if the following criteria are met: one year in lower level position; an above satisfactory annual evaluation; and the minimum qualifications for the higher level position are met.
