|  | Multi-Modal Learning Strategies: Workshop teaches techniques developed for students with disabilities that can benefit all - The workshop, held on two dates in September and October were presented by Ruby Crane, Stuart Buckley and Janine Hill, who are part of the TRIO grant through Broward College’s office of disability services. The presenters demonstrated some of the strategies and assistive technology available to help students with hidden disabilities, such as learning disabilities, and also students who are visually impaired or blind. |  | Broward College hosts “Veterans Open House and Tribute” - Broward College will host a Veterans Open House and Tribute on Monday, November 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, 3501 SW Davie Rd., Building 10 (gym) in Davie. The event will include representatives from several organizations that provide services to veterans for healthcare, employment, and more. There will also be information about the new Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits, and what Broward College has to offer student veterans. |  | Broward College employees help save a life - In a dramatic rescue, three Broward College employees saved a man who was attempting suicide in the parking garage in downtown Fort Lauderdale. It happened at about 8 a.m. on Friday, October 9, just as George Fabre, a senior financial aid adviser, Rosa Benavides, a part-time financial aid assistant, and Hantz Pierre, a response center specialist, were each pulling into parking spots on the sixth floor of the garage. |  | Planned giving informational events planned by Broward College Foundation - When was the last time you got to speak to a financial adviser, an accountant and an attorney for free? If the answer is NEVER, then this educational seminar may be for you. |  | Professional Mediation Training leads to certification - Members of the Broward College family recently completed a three-day Professional Mediation Training to become certified as Florida Supreme Court County Court Mediators. The training was held at Nova Southeastern University through the Institute of Conflict Resolution & Communication (ICRC). Alexia Georgakopoulos, Ph. D., ICRC’s director of training, served as the primary trainer.
