Q: May I apply for admission to BCC at any time?

A: Yes. You must follow the admission requirements for internationals.
These requirements include:
1. Application for admission.
2. Evidence of English proficiency: (1) Test for English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or (2) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or (3) if student is currently in the U.S. he/she may take the BCC English placement test if they have not taken TOEFL or IELTS. If you are applying for the English program only, you do not have to have proof of English Proficiency.
3. Confidential statement of financial resources.
4. Education records through highest level completed. University records must include official translation.


Q: Does Broward Community College offer an English Program?
A: Yes. BCC offers a four level intensive English program.

Q: Can I take the TOEFL in my country before arriving in the United States?
A: Yes. The test is administered several times during the year worldwide. Consult the international testing program calendar available from BCC Advisement/ Central Campus Office or write to TOEFL, Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08541, USA.


Q: If my native and first language is English, do I need to take the TOEFL exam?
A:
No. Regular advisement requirements will be followed to assure proper placement into courses. You must indicate your native language on the application for admission.

Q: If I submit a score of 500 or more on the TOEFL paper test, 173 or higher on the computerized TOEFL test, or 69 or higher on the internet version of the TOEFL, do I still need to take an English proficiency test at BCC?
A: Yes. TOEFL is not used for English placement. Confirmation of your English proficiency will be determined by Broward Community College’s English placement test.

Q: I have completed an English as a Second Language Program at another institution. Do I still have to take the placement exam?
A: Yes. This is necessary for admission to the college and to assist with proper placement into courses.

Q: Are there registration and placement requirement for courses?
A: Yes. Registration and placement into courses and programs is dependent upon English language proficiency, advisement and counseling, placement testing and course or program requirements.


Q: I have limited financial resources. May I receive financial assistance from Broward Community College?
A: No. A statement of financial resources available to support your educational and living expenses must be provided to BCC. The minimum required resources are estimated to be $18,000 each academic year.

Q: Do I need to be a high school graduate to enter BCC?
A:
Yes. We require a copy of your high school diploma or, its equivalent (GED), and /or four academic passes in GCE, CXC, BGCSE or HKCE exams. High school documents do not have to be translated, with the exception of Asian, Hebrew or Arabic.

Q: Does BCC issue the form I-20?
A:
Yes, once you have been approved for admission to BCC.


Q: Will I be able to enroll at BCC after arriving without having completed the admissions requirements?
A: No. You may be admitted to the College and permitted to register into classes only after all admissions requirements are fulfilled. These requirements must be completed prior to the intended term of enrollment.

Q: After being admitted, if I arrive after classes begin, may I still attend that term?
A: No. You must arrive prior to the beginning of your approved term of enrollment. This is necessary for passport and immigration verifications, orientation, reconfirmation testing, advisement, placement and registration into classes.
