NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (Tucson, Arizona) 
Vanja Mikovic Reaches Semifinals In No. 1 Singles Before Bowing Out 6-1, 6-0
Vanja Mikovic, who entered the 64 player tournament as the No. 17 seed, finished 3-1 in the main draw of No. 1 singles, reaching the semifinal round before falling to No. 1 seed Monika Lalewicz of Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) College 6-1, 6-0 this morning (May 7).
 
In the opening round, Mikovic defeated No. 19 seed Maria Mendes of the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.  In the second round, Mikovic upended No. 23 seed Sara Anic of Seminole State (Okla.) College 6-4, 6-0.  In the quarterfinal round, Mikovic defeated No. 25 seed Natalie Araya of Lee (Texas) College 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
 
Mikovic and Ivana Jiraskova were the No. 17 seed out of 64 teams in the No. 1 doubles tournament and finished 2-1 in the main draw.

Opening Round
Mikovic/Jiraskova defeated No. 19 Nicole TenBrink/Desiree Phillips of Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College 6-0, 6-0.
Second Round
Mikovic/Jiraskova d. No. 21 Breanna Uzeta/Sadie Such of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College 6-1, 6-1.
Quarterfinals 
No. 25 Natalie Araya/Natalie Djananova of Lee College d. Mikovic/Jiraskova  6-2, 7-5.
