The Ford Motor Company Automotive Student Service Educational Training Program (Ford ASSET)

The Ford Motor Company Automotive Student Service Educational Training Program (Ford ASSET) is a joint project of the Ford Motor Company, local Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealerships, Sheridan Technical Center (STC), and Broward Community College to provide the technical training and the hands-on experience to be a successful factory trained Ford Automobile Technician. FINANCIAL AID All students are encouraged to apply for financial aid at BCC South during the initial application process. Most students not eligible for financial aid and grants can obtain student loans (about $6500.00) through BCC South. Students must purchase a basic tool set in the amount of $1000.00 before graduation. Many tool suppliers offer special student discounts.

Total estimated cost for tuition, books, transfer & misc. fees, and tools is $6000.00.

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN While working at the dealership students receive a trainees wage usually starting at about 8.50 per hour, this totals to about $20,000 earned during the two year program.

 

ASSET STUDENT SCHEDULE Students attend STC twenty-five hours a week (12:30 to 5:30, Mon-Fri) in eight week blocks. During this time students also attends a BCC academic class scheduled at STC or at a BCC campus of their choice. Students usually work twenty hours a week at their Ford dealership employer during this class term. Students who need college prep courses will be required to attend class an additional night a week until they are completed. The following eight weeks students work at their Ford dealership employer forty hours a week usually under the supervision of a Master Technician. The student is responsible to document this work experience as part of the program.

 

The ASSET Program starts each June, applications are accepted year round.

 

CERTIFICATION ASSET Students will be prepared to take the ASE automobile certification tests during the normal length of the program. Students will also obtain extensive Ford Motor Company Factory Training certification in a wide variety of areas. This training is recognized by Ford dealers world wide.
