Sustainability refers to ensuring that the workplace is a healthy, maintainable, and supportive environment for the entire working community as well as future workers to come. It encompasses the relationship between the economy, the environment, and human well-being.
Some of the major concerns of Sustainability include: College-wide integrated decision-making
Community participation
Creating long-term solutions
Education on environmental issues
Obligations to future generations of Broward College
As defined by the Brundtland Commission, sustainability "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." All purchasing that pertains to sustainability is known as "Green Purchasing" and is handled by the Committee on Environmental Sustainability.
