| Sample Pathway: Associate's or higher degree OR military service w/ some college credits OR related job experience such as 911 dispatcher or community service aide or corrections (jail/prison) officer. NOTE: Must have an excellent driving record, be person of good moral character. NOTE: In some parts of FL, (the more rural areas), stress on college degree is much, much less. |

| Typical staring salary: mid to high $40’s (around $46,000), usually with good pay raises first few years and good opportunities for overtime. |
| Sample Pathway: bachelors or higher degree OR bachelors degree with law enforcement or military experience OR, for a few agencies, combination of college course work (though no earned degree) and law enforcement or military experience. NOTE: Knowledge of a second language is a definite plus in being hired, also may be required to work in different cities (ie: forced to move) during the first few years. |
