Course Description The Medical-Surgical Review Online Course is an innovative program designed for the Registered Nurse (RN) who has been away from practice for three (3) or more years, or those currently working in areas other than the medical-surgical environment and want to return to acute care nursing. The curriculum is taught in the web-based classroom, Blackboard, and is divided into three separate learning modules. The focus of the course is to provide a review of various concepts in medical-surgical nursing, discuss current treatments and nursing management, and highlight "What's New in Nursing". The teaching design provides online learning activities, case studies, and discussion activities with faculty and other students to help you apply and synthesize key concepts in caring for the medical-surgical patient. Each module contains a pre-test for self-evaluation, decision-making activities, and module exam to validate your knowledge. The program is divided into three modules and is taught by a team of medical-surgical nursing faculty versed in E-learning instruction. Each module will be available to students 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The modules may be taken in any order. A Blackboard (Web Course Management Tool) orientation will be done on the Internet prior to beginning the first online module. Back to Top
