Photovoltaic Technology

Understanding Photovoltaic  Electricity and Electrical Concepts EDI 0425 $159

Introduces basic electrical concepts before taking more advanced courses in designing and installing photovoltaic systems. Reviews DC and AC electrical theory with emphasis on the concepts of how to use the sun to make electricity and how to harness this energy source in a code-compliant manner. The course has also been designed for 6 credits of continuing education through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).

Designing Advanced Grid-Connected PV Systems EDI 0424 $159

Focus is design of more advanced PV systems, such as micro inverter systems, dc-coupled battery backup systems, hybrid battery backup systems, ac-coupled battery backup systems and larger systems. It is intended primarily for design professionals (architects and engineers) but should also be of interest to code officials and contractors. Prerequisite: EDI 0251
