Prior to submitting an application to the nursing program the student is required to successfully complete the following:
 
  1. First apply to Broward College.
  2. Have and maintain  a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.0
  3. Complete all nursing pre-requisite courses with a C; or better and earn a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in the required pre-requisites:

  4. Complete the HESI A2 Assessment Test: Refer to the pre-requisite for Health Sciences Nursing Program Sheet located on admissions website at  http://www.broward.edu/admissions/Documents/PreRequisiteAndSelectionRequirements2013.pdf 
  5. Prospective students are to apply during the published specified period of time for application submission. Meeting the criteria for application submission does not guarantee admission to the Nursing program.

Yes. The required test is the HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Test. The HESI Test is only offered on Central Campus in Building 17 on the 2nd floor Learning Resource Center (LRC). Testing can be scheduled Monday - Saturday by appointment only. For further information call 954 201 6134 or email hesi_testing@broward.edu.

There is no wait-list. Students not selected for a specific class in the Nursing program must re-apply in order to be considered for the next incoming class.

The Nursing Program admits generic students three times a year at each major term. The LPN-RN Transition is admitted once a year in Term 3 Summer Term.

Term 3 Summer (May Admissions) The application period for the May LPN-RN Transition Program is Open Ended. The May open-ended application period means that students are allowed to submit an applicaiton for consideration to a specific program until all available seats are filled.

Application status can be tracked on the myBC area of the college website.  Log on with your student ID and password.  Select “Limited Access Application Status.” 
 
Students selected for the program will be notified by the admissions department via their BC e-mail account 3 weeks after the application deadline date.  Students selected will be required to respond to the e-mail notice to accept or decline the admission by deadline date provided in the email.  Failure to reply with any response will forfeit the considered seat for admission and will require students to reapply for the next available admission.

Students that want to reapply could submit an application with the application fee during the designated time frame deadline to be considered for admission.

Follow the instructions contained within the acceptance e-mail sent to you by the Admissions Department. The e-mail communication will inform Students of a required, on-campus, pre-admissions orientation session. At this mandatory admission orientation the needed information will be provided with steps and further requirements for all students toward registration for the nursing program;  information on the criminal background and drug screening;  physical examination with immunization verification; certificates.
