                                 Associate of Science in Nursing

Application Criteria:

Minimum GPA of 2.5 is required in the following courses with asterisk (*):

  • *ENC 1101 English Composition
  • *BSC 2085 and BSC 2085L Anatomy and Physiology I and Lab
  • *BSC 2086 and BSC 2086L Anatomy and Physiology II and Lab
  • Effective January 2019, the first successful attempt grade in ENC1101, BSC2085, BSC2085L, BSC2086 and BSC2086L will be used when calculating GPA required for admission.

A general education Math Course (Area 5) – Admission requirement
(Grade is not calculated in required GPA for Nursing) Grade must be "C" or better.
A2 HESI Test is required:  HESI cut scores for consideration are:

  • Reading - 75%
  • Vocabulary - 75%
  • Grammar - 75%
  • Math - 75%
  • Anatomy & Physiology - 75%

NOTE: To register for the HESI Exam, visit www.broward.edu/HESI or visit the Cashier's Office on Central Campus (Building 19) to pay the HESI testing fee of $65.00. Bring the receipt to the Academic Success Center, Central Campus Building 17 (Library) to schedule exam.

          MCB 2010 and MCB 2010L Microbiology and Lab (Graduation Requirement)

(Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all courses and meet the minimum GPA to be eligible to apply)

Application Period:

August - Fall Semester:                 Feb. 16th – May 15th

January - Winter Semester:         May 16th – Sept. 29th (extended due to Hurricane Irma)

May - Summer Semester:            Sept. 18th – Feb. 15th

Admission Selection Criteria:

Admission is based on points.  Maximum number of points = 16

  • GPA - 2.5 = 1 point                                              
  • GPA - 2.6 = 2 points
  • GPA - 2.7 = 3 points
  • GPA - 2.8 = 4 points
  • GPA - 2.9 = 5 points
  • GPA - 3.0 = 6 points
  • GPA - 3.1 = 7 points
  • GPA - 3.2 = 8 points
  • GPA - 3.3 = 9 points
  • GPA - 3.4 = 10 points
  • GPA - 3.5 = 11 points
  • GPA - 3.6 = 12 points
  • GPA - 3.7 = 13 points
  • GPA - 3.8 = 14 points
  • GPA - 3.9 = 15 points
  • GPA - 4.0 = 16 points

Selection for the RN program is based on the GPA calculated from ENC1101, BSC2085, BSC2085L,
BSC2086, BSC2086L. (In the event of a tie, Overall GPA will be used as the tiebreaker).
