Passing General Knowledge Exam scores:
 
The General Knowledge Exam (GKE) must be taken and at least ONE section passed in order to begin classes in the TEP. To register for the exam please visit www.fl.nesinc.com. Be sure to sign up for all four parts of the exam (English, Reading, Math, and the Essay) and list Broward College as a recipient of the scores. You take the test on the computer through the Pearson Testing Centers. Please send a copy of your GKE Registration Ticket and/or unofficial GKE scores to cumana@broward.edu for verification of registration or your official score report if you have already taken the exam.

Letter of Recommendation:
 
A letter of recommendation from an educational, personal, or professional reference is required.
 
Associate of Arts Degree (to include 36 credits of general education coursework):
 
Applicants to the TEP must have an AA degree from a regionally accredited institution to include 36 credits of general education coursework. Students who are completing the AA degree in Spring or Summer are eligible for Fall admission, but may not be fully admitted to the program until the AA degree posts on the college transcript.
 
2.5 GPA: Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on all general education coursework to be considered for the TEP.
 
Pre-requisite coursework: Students applying for the TEP must complete the appropriate pre-requisite coursework specific to the desired degree. All degree programs in the TEP require three lower division education courses: EDF1005, EDF2085, and EME2040.  Science and Mathematics education bachelor programs require additional pre-requisite coursework.  Please refer to the Science Pre-Req Info.pdf and the Math Pre-Req Info.pdf sheets. 
 
Foreign Language requirement: Students are required to have two years (two full credits) of sequential foreign language studies from high school or eight semester credit hours at the college level.  Students may also choose to take the computer-based CLEP exam on select for foreign languages (French, German, and Spanish).  For more information on CLEP, visit http://www.broward.edu/admissions/testing/Pages/clep.aspx​

To apply to the Teacher Education Program at Broward College you must complete the following:
 
Broward College Application:
Complete a credit applicati​on for Broward College.
 
TEP Supplemental Application:
Complete a free TEP Supplemental Application (Spring 2018 term)
 
Submit the following documents:
  • Passing scores for at least ONE portion of the General Knowledge Exam (GKE)
  • One letter of recommendation from an educational, personal, or professional reference.
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended to any Broward College Admissions department.
  • Submit high school transcripts to the Teacher Education Program department (if completed foreign language credits in high school).

Meet the final approval of the TEP Admissions Committee.

Yes, students in Broward College's Teacher Education Program are eligible for all financial aid through the Financial Aid department at Broward College. Students who are fully admitted into the Teacher Education Program are eligible for the Bachelor's Degree Scholarship. Fully admitted students are also eligible for the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers Scholarship.

Yes, Broward College’s Bachelor of Science in Education degree program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS). It is also a Florida Department of Education approved Teacher Preparation Program.
