2008 BCC All-Conference Baseball Players All-Southern Conference Honors Awarded to Four Seahawks Sophomores Gilson, Jimenez, and Espinosa awarded first team honors, while Mesa earns second team recognition.

| Fort Pierce, Fla.--The BCC Men's Baseball Team, who recently qualified for the FCCAA State Tournament place four sophomores on the 2008 all-Southern Conference team. LHP Matt Gilson (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), OF J.J. Jimenez (Hialeah Gardens, Fla.), and C/1B Tito Espinosa (Miami, Fla.) were all named to the first team all- conference. OF Anthony Mesa (Miami, Fla.) garnered the honor of second team all-conference.
Although was the lone pitcher honored from BCC, he was also named the Pitcher of the Year for the conference. Following a 5-2 freshman year with a 2.63 ERA, Gilson returned only to improve on his freshman campaign with a 7-2 record and a 1.30 ERA in 2008. | | In two years, Gilson has a combined record of 12-4 with a 1.98 ERA in 26 games and 154.2 innings pitched. He has throw four complete games, one shutout, and two saves. | After a freshman year that earned him first team all-state (.367-1-32) as an infielder, Jimenez returned to the Seahawks and moved to the outfield under the tutelage of coach Jeff Foley. He responded by having another solid year at the plate (.351-3-31) despite the position change.
Jimenez had four games this year with four hits and 13 multi- hit games and hit safely in 30 of 41 games. He had a 14 game hitting streak between March 27th and April 19th and hit safely in 22 of 25 games since March 11th.

C Tito Espinosa | Espinosa led the Seahawks in home runs (4) and RBI's (39) while hitting .342 in 2008. Tito split time between catching, first base, and designated hitter duties and never missed a beat at the plate.
Tito became one of the most feared hitters throughout the conference due to his ability to change the game with one swing of the bat.
| In two years with the Seahawks, Tito hit .350, drove in 68 runs, blasted six home runs, and slugged .529 in 81 games played.
Outfielder Anthony Mesa (.338-3-35) was named to the second team all-Southern Conference as the leadoff batter created havoc at the plate, on the base paths, and while patrolling center field.
