In three seasons as head coach of the Broward Community College softball team, Brian Staubly has produced 11 players who were selected all-Southern Conference.  Last season, Amanda Heyl and Iris Kolman were named second team all-conference.  Staubly’s pitching instruction was highlighted as Heyl was twice named the FCCAA Pitcher of the Week and once as the NJCAA co-pitcher of the week.  Highlights of her year include throwing two perfect games in one day against Palm Beach C.C. on April 4. In the doubleheader against the Panthers, she tossed 14 perfect innings and struck out 13, including ten in game two.

Coach Staubly enters the 2009 season with a rebuilding team of eight newcomers along with a challenging schedule that includes several teams ranked in the FCCAA and NJCAA.  Even with an inexperience squad, Staubly believes his team will be competitive and fulfill the goal of reaching the Southern Conference tournament.

This summer, Staubly is coaching the Georgia Select College All-Star team at the Virgin Islands.  The squad will play the Caribbean and South American junior national teams.

Before coming to BCC, Staubly spent one year as an assistant coach at Young Harris (Ga.) College.  Before moving up to the college ranks, Staubly served as head coach at Coral Springs High School from 1999 to 2004.  During his five years coaching the Colts, Staubly led the team to the regional playoffs four times and the regional semifinals twice.  In addition, Staubly has coached at numerous high school and collegiate softball camps as a hitting and pitching instructor.

Staubly graduated from the University of Florida in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He is married to the former Valerie Kyle and they are the proud parents of daughters Trisha (26) and Lauren (22) and son Kyle (18).
