Lauren Thomas enters her second season as assistant coach for Broward Community College. Along with her coaching assignments, Thomas is a full-time graduate student, majoring in physical therapy at Nova Southeastern University. She plans to receive her doctorate in physical therapy in 2009. Thomas graduated from Nova Southeastern in 2006 with a degree in biology and was a two-sport athlete on the women’s volleyball and nationally ranked rowing teams. Thomas and her rowing teammates made NCAA Division II history by reaching the national championships three consecutive times (2004-2006), during the first three years of the program. Originally from Rockford, Illinois, Thomas graduated from Guilford High School in 2002. As captain of the volleyball team, she received first-team all-conference and second-team all-state honors. She was also a member of the National Honor Society.
