Quick Response Training (QTR) Project

Workforce Florida is preparing an initiative in response to the Florida Chamber Foundations's Florida Trade and Logistics Study (http://www.flfoundation.org/) released December 2010. The study reveals four major opportunities to increse Florida's role as an international trade hub:


  • Capture a larger share of the containerized imports oritinanting in Asia and serving Florida businesses and consumers;
  • Expand export markets for Florida businesses by filling these import containers with Florida goods and using more efficient logistics patterns to attract advanced manufacturing;
  • Emerge as a global hub for trade and investments, and
  • Expand vocational associate degree and workforce training programs to support skill requirements for air cargo industries.

Quick Response Training Program (QRT) is planning to create statewide consortium projects to bolster international trade and export expansion opportunities with focus on air cargo transportation hubs of the state.


Requirements for Consortium QRT Project

  • There must be a single point of contact for each consortium (industry association or a for profit business).
  • Partnership must include fiscal agent
  • All training must be customized training for air cargo freight companies (examples are, but not limited to, workplace foreign language, internaitonal culture, safety, finance, international trade regulations, the how-to of exporting, entrepreneurship, marketing)
  • All training must occur withing 24 months
  • Performance based reimbursements
  • Participants under the grant must be full-time permanent employees and Florida residents
