Broward College Experts Available for National Preparedness Month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 5, 2014) – With September 11 marking the 13th anniversary of the Attack on America, it is a good time to assess how prepared homes and businesses are for all types of emergencies. During National Preparedness Month, which is supported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and aims to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to mass threats, natural disasters, emergencies and attacks, Broward College has the following experts available –

Debra Hauss,
an emergency nurse specialty coordinator at Broward College and Workforce Development clinician at Memorial Healthcare System, has more than 17 years of experience working on the South Florida Medical Assistance Team. At Broward College, Hauss teaches a 2-hour Bioterrorism and All Hazards Preparedness and Response class for a variety of healthcare professionals and healthcare workers. She is available to discuss terrorism, emergency preparedness and response for home and work, as well as special planning for hurricanes, tornadoes and pandemic influenza. Marcus Robinson,
director of safety and the chief fire official at Broward College, who develops policies, procedures, practices, and programs to enhance the overall health and safety of the College community, is available to discuss how to properly prepare for a natural disaster, as well as fire safety procedures.
