Adding Real-Time Interactivity to Your Online Classes
(Recommended for all online faculty.)

Prerequisite: Must already have an existing online course.

“Adding Real-Time Interactivity to Your Online Classes” is a two-hour workshop for all faculty who are currently teaching online. Real-time learning (a.k.a. synchronous learning) allows you to add meaningful interaction and a personal touch to your online classes. Wimba Classroom is an Internet-based meeting tool that BC recently licensed and is easily integrated into Blackboard so you can meet with your students “live” online. These real-time sessions are great for orientations, exam reviews, virtual office hours, peer critiques, tutoring, and software demonstrations. With an inexpensive web cam, your students can hear and see you, and you can upload and show PowerPoint presentations, share all types of files, explore web sites, text chat, and use a white board. Best of all, Wimba is easy to use and students absolutely love the opportunity to meet you and the other students in their class, and have their questions answered in real time. And for those students who cannot attend a live session, you can record your sessions so they can watch later.

This workshop will be conducted online via Wimba so faculty can see what it’s like to participate in a live online meeting, practice the various tools, and to minimize driving costs and attendance time required. Faculty can log on from any Internet-connected computer but must have a microphone in order to participate. Attendance will be limited to 6 people per session to maximize hands-on opportunities.
