Broward College retirees activity update for December

December 2010
With Thanksgiving gatherings of family, friends and feasting now behind us, we look towards the end of the year and its remaining festivities. Among them are our last luncheon of the year, to be held on Thursday, December 9th, 1:30 p.m., at the ever-popular Romano’s Macaroni Grill, 100 N. University Dr., Plantation, a week earlier than usual in order not to interfere with other holiday plans. Hope-fully many of you learned there was no luncheon scheduled in November due to modem problems and no computer access. All is thankfully back to normal. At the restaurant we can make our entrée choices (pasta, chicken, or seafood) even including dessert. Beverage, tax, and gratuity will bring the total cost to $25 for this special holiday meal.

Catching up on the news, we congratulate former History instructor Maureen Dinnen who has been named School Board Member of the Year for outstanding educational dedication. Representing Broward College, President J. David Armstrong, Jr., will appear in the Winterfest Boat Parade. Paulette Cuvillier asks to be remembered to former colleagues during her 28 years at BCC. Hedy Sarbey and her husband can now be considered full-time inhabitants of Fairview, NC. Fran Abbott spent time in the Black Sea area last month. Judy VanAlstyne returned last month from an exciting visit and cruise around Italy and the Croation Coast. After a month spent in Minnesota with her daughter, Mary Bacon toured beautiful Ireland and even got to kiss the Blarney Stone! Joyce Warden and husband visited Dr. Holcombe en route to their western vacation. John Britt and family have returned from a summer in Maine.

Dorothy Weiss, Allied Health, is doing well after a double knee replacement. T. J. Cole, Central Campus Music, had a recent triple bypass and is back home, 71 Sunshine Dr., Maggie Valley, NC 18751. We wish them speedy recoveries.

Mildred Mullikin informs us that Vi Dunlevy, Speech and Theatre, passed away in N. Carolina. We were also sorry to hear that Carla Arriola, Math, and the wife of Colin Battle have also passed away.
Please notify me before Tuesday, December 7th, if you can be with us on this last gathering of the year, and Happy Holidays!
