Biography Information

Dr.
Lourdes
Oroza
has
been
an
educator
in
South
Florida
for
a
quarter
century.
She
serves
as
provost
of
the
Judson
A.
Samuels
Campus
--
a
thriving
campus
serving
the
communities
of
southern
Broward
County.
Dr.
Oroza
began
her
professional
life
as
a
high
school
foreign
language
teacher
in
New
Orleans,
later
continuing
in
Miami.
She
came
to
Broward
from
Miami-Dade
College
where
she
served
as
dean
of
academic
affairs.
A
native
of
Santa
Clara,
Cuba,
Dr.
Oroza
immigrated
to
the
United
States
with
her
family
at
age
3.
She
graduated
from
Miami
Senior
High
School,
and
earned
her
baccalaureate
degree
in
French
from
Tulane
University,
a
master's
degree
in
secondary
school
administration
from
the
University
of
Miami,
and
a
doctorate
in
adult
education
and
human
resources
development
from
Florida
International
University.
Dr.
Oroza
has
twice
been
awarded
Kellogg
Leadership
Fellowships,
first
locally
by
the
Dade
Community
Foundation's
Miami
Fellows
Initiative
program
and
later
in
a
national
competition
by
the
Hispanic
Association
of
Colleges
and
Universities.
