- Unplug the power, and if
applicable, the phone and network cables from the wall.
- Wrap a bag all the way around
and under the desktop or tower case so the bag opening is in the back
where the wires are. Secure the back with tape or a twister so water
cannot drip in. Check to make sure that wires angle from the PC down
so water will not slide down them into the computer. (If your PC is
on the floor in an area that might flood, elevate the PC or use 2 bags.)

- Place a bag over the keyboard,
monitor, and mouse so the bag is under the keyboard and mouse to protect
them from puddles. Tuck the bag under the monitor to hold it in place.

- Bag other devices such as
printers and scanners in the same manner described for the PC case.
- Any equipment that is by
an unprotected window should be moved to a more secure location.
- Waterproof any software
licenses, media, and related material.
- If you store your data (i.e.
Word, Excel files, etc.) on your hard drive, backup those files to a
floppy or zip disk and take them home.
