Accomplishments: Teacher
at BC for 17 years, Honors Faculty Travel Award
in 2003
I teach these Honors Courses:
ENC 1101 ENC 1102
Other courses: ENC 1101, ENC 1102,
ENC
0010, ENC 0021, LIT 2020
Interests: cooking, choral singing,
writing (short stories, children's stories, some poetry),
traveling, gardening, conversation, painting (oil & watercolor),
entertaining
Teaching Philosophy: I love getting students
excited about literature and seeing the mysteries involved
with the writer's genius and craft. When they read a short
story 3x, for example, they begin to see a host of new
ideas.
I love teaching writing & seeing student's self-confidence
rise when they edit and revise their work. I keep early
work so they can compare it to final writing samples at
term's end; they barely recognize themselves!! Their improved
skills are thrilling to me.
Inspiration: I love the life truths evident
in the Old and New Testament! |
