The Foreign Language Center offers language courses that emphasize conversational skills for business, personal and travel interests. The learner will gain a solid foundation in conversation, reading and writing skills in the specific languages, as well as the knowledge of the culture and customs of the regions throughout the world in which these languages are spoken.

 

Online Language Courses   - access courses from home or office.  Choose from many options such as Speed Spanish and Grammar Refresher.

Learn the Mandarin Chinese characters, structures, and conversation skills in this beginning language course. Students will learn how to communicate for business, personal or vacation needs. Explore Chinese culture, customs, history, cooking and music and everyday life in Chinese speaking regions of the world.

This Japanese I course uses multimedia for those students who wish to learn the fundamentals of the Japanese language. The video materials feature a man who has just arrived in Tokyo. Students follow his journey which makes the learning of the language informative and enjoyable. Students learn to understand, speak, read and communicate at a basic level. The program features lively dialogues. Students will study the language, culture, history, and traditions of Japan.

Students will learn new vocabulary words and grammar structures that could lead toward more formal language education. Primary emphasis is on communication competencies in the Hispanic culture. Students will work in pairs and groups. Reading, speaking, listening and writing skills will be taught, and students will debate controversial topics in the target language - enhancing role-play and immersion techniques.

Intensive 60-hour course. In this second level course, students will learn to communicate in an advanced Spanish-speaking environment—for use in the business world, social settings or in a Spanish country. Learn advanced grammar skills, expanded vocabulary, write essays, create and participate in extensive dialogues, improve pronunciation, and learn about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.
