Substitute Teacher Training

 

Broward Community College in partnership with Broward County Public Schools offers the Substitute Teacher Training Program. The program addresses the need for quality substitutes in the absence of the teacher.

 

ATTENTION :

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER APPLICANTS

Due to the recent reduction in force and the Broward Teachers Union Collective Bargaining Agreement - Article 26, we are not currently appointing new substitute teachers while there are laid off employees. Article 26 also applies to previous employees of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Please monitor the following School Board of Broward County website for updates:


Please retain your application until Sub Central resumes
the clearance of substitute teachers.  Substitute Training will be offered and you may submit your certificate when applications resume.

Training completion is not a guarantee of employment as a substitute teacher. All requirements must be fulfilled, including security clearance, in order to be processed for employment with Broward County Public Schools.

Attention: You must complete this training before applying as a Substitute Teacher for Broward County. Please contact the Sub Central Help Desk at 754-321-2340 for any questions or concerns, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 p.m.

 


Substitute Teacher Training EDE0755 14hrs. $65.00

The program is a requirement for individuals without experience in the classroom, and will cover subjects such as classroom and behavioral management, effective lesson delivery, and professional conduct.

Textbook is required and must be purchased prior to attending the first class.

Textbook is available at all BCC bookstores ($30.95).Substitute Teacher Handbook ISBN 1-87-00-08059-4.  Please purchase the text for the first day of class.  Due to the high demand for the classes - Please register at least 5 working days before the class begins.

You must be registered and paid before attending the first class.  

Attendance is required for all classes for the section your are registered.  You must be on time.  No provision is made for making up a missed class.  For Audit Purposes, You may not switch class sections.  If you are unable to attend a class due to extraordinary circumstances, please petition the department for refund. Please allow two weeks for processing.  Participation is required by the participants and the instructor may choose not to issue a certificate due for unsatisfactory performance.

When you register please reflect your current address and residence information.   Please note that a certificate will be issued in the name which reflects your registration. If you are a former student and have had a name change please fax the vital statistics form to 954-201-3617 with your marriage certificate or relevant document to reflect your current name.  

Please register  with enough time in advance to allow for contingencies.   Classes are in high demand.
