Children and Divorce:

For Divorcing Parents with Minor Children

The Parenting Class - Children and Divorce is a four hour court approved educational course for divorcing parents who have minor children. The program focuses on the concerns parents have regarding their decision to divorce, and the impact this process will have on their children. This program will provide an opportunity for parents to learn more effective ways of communicating with each other and make decisions that are in the best interest of their child/children.  It is recommended that parents take this class when they realize they may be divorcing.

Using a classroom format, instructors will provide information through lecture, videotape, role playing and discussion. The following topics will be addressed:

  • The Divorce Process
  • The Stages of Grief
  • What Children Need to Hear
  • Typical Reactions
  • What Kids Need to Do to Adjust
  • How Parents Can Help

Please register early. You must register and pay at least 4 days prior to the class to receive the certificate of completion in class. All other certificates will be mailed.

  • Be on Time - Tardiness is not permitted!
  • Bring a picture ID.
  • Children are not permitted in class.
  • Students must register in advance of the class.
