Project RENEW (Refugees Entering New Enterprises and Workforce) for refugees and political asylees living in Broward County who need to develop or improve their English language and job training skills.
Refugees Entering New Enterprises and Workforce (RENEW) is a comprehensive ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and job training program for refugees and political asylees. RENEW operates as a component of the Institute for Economic Development at BCC and is funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Services, and administered by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
In its first year of operation, Project RENEW served 200 students. Since then we have grown exponentially. We currently have students from Cuba, Haiti, Liberia, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Honduras, Russia, Ukraine and Iran attending day or evening ESOL classes or in job training programs.
Many of our students were professionals in their countries who need English language skills and knowledge of how the workplace functions in the US in order to make their way into good, well-paying jobs. Other students did not have the opportunity to study in their countries. In our career counseling program, students learn how to make effective career choices, and how to enter the field they've chosen.
Our staff members speak English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole and French. For more information, please give us a call or send us an email.
