Project RENEW offers the following services free to eligible participants:

Training Programs

Continuing Workforce Education Career Technical Program Highlights

Attendance Policy:
  • Students are expected to notify their instructor and/or the advisor assigned to their class when they are absent.
  • If a student misses a class meeting, s/he is responsible for all work done in class and homework due upon return.
  • After three consecutive absences without notification, the student will be withdrawn from the class.
Withdrawal Policy:
If a student withdraws from two classes, s/he will not be allowed to re-enroll. Only in special circumstances, approved by the program manager, will an exception be considered.
English for Speakers of Other Languages Classes:
  • RENEW Offers six levels of ESOL courses
  • Before registering for classes, all students must take the English placement test (CASAS) to determine level of instruction
  • Each ESOL course is 16 week in length
  • Books a are available for student to use during class
  • Each ESOL course level has a departmental final exam
  • Students must complete ESOL level-three to be eligible for enrolled in Continuing Education Workforce/Vocational courses. Students must meet with Training Coordinator to get registered
  • Certificate of completion is provided for students who complete Vocational and Continuing Education Courses

Other Services

RENEW offers transportation assistance (to eligible participants):
Bus Passes or parking permits: Transportation passes are available to a limited number of income-eligible students. To apply for assistance, student must submit an application form with proof of income before the 20th of each month for the following month. Metro Passes are awarded as needed, they are not renewed automatically. Students must be currently registered for classes to be considered for assistance. To be eligible to receive a pass, a student who is registered for a class that meets four times per week cannot have more than three absences per month.

Transcript Translation/Evaluation: Translations and evaluations of foreign earned credentials will be subsidized for students who are income eligible. The program will reimburse 100% of the total cost of the translation/evaluation service. Students must complete the application for reimbursement available in the RENEW office.

Employment Referrals: RENEW will refer participants to local South Florida Workforce Job Service Providers for employment assistant.

Childcare: RENEW will refer participants to local childcare centers who will provide childcare assistance to income eligible applicants.

Citizenship Program: RENEW offers citizenship and Civics instruction for lawful permanent residents who reside in Broward County. Students who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion.
