Frank Sandmaier is the A.V.P. for Technology Infrastructure Services.
The main focus of Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) is to ensure that the technology that comprises the College Network maintains a stable environment to provide and gain access to College Services and other services via the Internet. To obtain these goals we constantly search for a balance between costs, administration, performance, capacity and availability to develop a cost effective, reliable, flexible and secure infrastructure.
To accomplish this task, TIS works closely in collaboration with the rest of Information Technology as well as College executive leadership, Instructional Technology, Deans of Technology, Campus Technology staff, and individual departments. We meet regularly through out the year, addressing issues and developing future directions for the College Network
In 2005-2006 some of the issues that were addressed was increasing the reliability and capacity of the Wide Area Network, performing self assessments against the network for security compliance, extending the Technology Refresh Plan to directly address areas out side of the classroom, and extending the College network to the NAP of Americas, a fault tolerant site which provides a secure and stable environment to host services
This year telecommunication is being added to the TIS group and a major objective for the year is to develop and begin implementation of a solution to replace the College’s aging telecommunication’s systems with a more robust and feature rich system to continue to leverage the existing network and interface with existing applications. In additional we will be working with College Procurement Services and the College Business Office to replace our exiting copier suite and migrate more toward multi-use devices and network printing capabilities. Lastly we will be continuing with the deploying of services at the NAP to reduce the impact of disaster situations.
