Password Policy

In our efforts to enhance information security and adhere to audit regulations, Technology Services has implemented the following password policies:

Passwords must be changed every 90 days

  • Must be a minimum of 7 characters
  • Passwords must be include 3 of the 4 criteria:
    (Examples: "P@ssw0rd", "H3llo2u", "Myd0gSp0t", or "!!W33kend")
  • Must include a minimum of 1 English uppercase character (A to Z)
  • Must include a minimum of 1 English lowercase character (a to z)
  • Must include a minimum of 1 numeric character (0 to 9)
  • Must include a minimum of 1 non-alphanumeric character (!,$,%,&)

Users who have not yet changed their passwords must do so by April 28, 2011. Users will be notified 20, 10 and 5 days prior from password expiration. But in the meantime, you don't have to wait, you can change your password today!

You can create your NEW profile and reset your password anytime on the Broward College Password Management Portal from any web browser!

To create your profile on the Broward College Password Management Portal:

  • Go to https://reset.broward.edu
  • Enter your Username
  • Enter your current Password
  • Read the New User Introduction
  • To setup your Portal Identity Authentication
  • Select your personal Security Image
  • Create your Security Word (must be at least 6 characters) – This is not your new Broward College Password and it does not need to meet the Password Requirements listed above.

To change your password anytime:

  • Select Change My Password
  • Enter your current password to continue or select "Can't Remember Password"
  • Enter your new password – You can only change your Broward College Password one time in each 24 hour period.

The Broward College Password Management Portal is the best way to change your password. You can do it anytime and from any web browser by yourself! If you do not remember your current password to create your profile on the Broward College Password Management Portal, please contact Help Desk.

After each password change, you must change your password on your Broward College ID Card at a Sharp Printer Station. In addition, please remember to update your password on your iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, etc.

Novell GroupWise was migrated to Microsoft Outlook on Monday June 29, 2009.It is recommended you attend a
HR-Professional Development & Training session or visit Microsoft's online resources for Outlook 2007.


F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions):

1. How do I create my Signature in Outlook 2007
Answer: You will have to re-create your Signature in Outlook, but you will not have to add the public disclaimer as this was automatically added by the Exchange/Outlook system.

2. My personal contacts are missing? How can I access my personal contacts in my address book? 
Answer: Your contacts should not be missing, follow these instructions to gain access.

Instant Messaging:


GroupWise Messenger was replaced by Office Communicator, and installed silently in the background on your PC on your start menu.

 

Instructions

Bottom left of your screen - click start - All Programs - Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2
It will place a small green icon at the bottom right of your screen.


If you want it to run at windows startup every time, on the Office Communicator screen:

    1. Click the menu arrow in the upper left top of the window.
    2. Click on Connect, then on Change Sign In Address (Your sign in address should be your e-mail address, xxxxxxxx@broward.edu
    3. Click the check box that says Automatically start Communicator when I log on to Windows.

It is recommended that you partake in one of the training options listed below for Outlook 2007.
Outlook workshops will be scheduled each term for those needing training (i.e. Basic Outlook; Calendars; Contacts; Notes, Tasks & Rules).
