Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 will replace GroupWise June 29

 

Novell GroupWise will be migrated to Microsoft Outlook, starting Thursday June 25, 2009 at midnight, at which time all e-mail access will be restricted until Monday morning June 29, 2009 at 8 a.m. It is recommended you attend a staff development training session or visit Microsoft's online Outlook 2007, some links below.

 

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT Instant Messaging**
We will be replacing GroupWise Messenger with Office Communicator, it will be installed silently in the background on your PC. When it is complete, you will see it on your start menu.

 

Instructions

Bottom left of your screen - click start - All Programs - Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2
It will place a small green icon at the bottom right of your screen.


If you want it to run at windows startup every time, on the Office Communicator screen:

    1. Click the menu arrow in the upper left top of the window.
    2. Click on Connect, then on Change Sign In Address (Your sign in address should be your email address, xxxxxxxx@broward.edu
    3. Click the check box that says Automatically start Communicator when I log on to Windows.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR SIGNATURE**
If you created a signature in GroupWise you will have to re-create your Signature in Outlook, but you will not have to add the public disclaimer as this will automatically be added by the Exchange/Outlook system.

 


**IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT RULES**
There are no options to automatically migrate your GroupWise Rules to Outlook. If you have rules set up in GroupWise follow these instructions to capture your rules in GroupWise before the migration.


   Before migration
1) Document and save all GroupWise Rules in a Word document.
   After migration
2) Re-create your rules in Outlook

Here are the steps to make this process easier

 

• Microsoft Outlook 2007 client will replace the GroupWise client

• Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) will replace GroupWise Web Access

• Microsoft Office Communicator Instant Messaging will replace GroupWise Messenger

• Microsoft Outlook training classes will continue through HR-Professional Development & Training [Training schedule shown below]

Training options:


It is recommended that you attend a training session listed below to help you get ready for Outlook 2007 e-mail which is replacing GroupWise.

Outlook workshops will be scheduled each term for those needing training (i.e. Basic Outlook; Calendars; Contacts; Notes, Tasks & Rules).
