On September 27, 2006 a new service was made available to BCC employees: the Online Marketplace and Discussion Forum. Accessible via the Employee Intranet, this web-based tool serves as a virtual meeting place that enables faculty and staff to exchange ideas and share information on almost any topic relevant for discussion at BCC. The employee marketplace section of the forum allows all employees to post items/services for sale, request items to buy, or to ask advice about a particular service or item.
Joe King from the Student Financial Services department was the very first BCC employee to create a post in the new forum. After unsuccessfully attempting to sell a boat on eBay, Joe listed the boat in the online employee marketplace and sold it to another BCC employee within a few weeks. There are a wide variety of items currently listed for sale in the marketplace including real estate, computer parts, beanie babies, a piano and Christmas decorations.

Since the original forum was released, several new discussion topics have been added including those for PTS employees, the faculty bargaining agreement and environment sustainability. Employees should feel free to contribute to all the conversations and initiate additional discussion topics for those areas that aren’t you addressed.
The forums are accessible to all College employees and are accessed by logging into the Employee Intranet and selecting “Employee Marketplace & Discussion Forum” under the Job Tools section.
