Cusco is a city in southeastern Peru, near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cusco Region as well as the Cuzco Province. The city has a population of over 350,000. Cusco was the site of the historic capital of the Inca Empire and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO.
It is a major tourist destination and receives almost 2 million visitors a year. It is designated as the Historical Capital of Peru by the Constitution of Peru.
To enroll in Manos A La Obra Learning Community courses, you must:
Complete and submit the application. Priority will be given to students who are returning to BC for at least one term of study after their placement.
Attend in-person interview
Have completed at least 24 college level credits at Broward College.
Be a student in good standing.
Have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Be 18 years of age or older by January 7, 2013.
Not Eligible: BC College Academy or Dual Enrolled high school students.
Be available for and committed to the entirety of the learning community courses including class sessions taking place before, during, and after the trip to Peru.
Be eligible for a Passport to travel to Peru.

SLS 1261 Leadership
The purpose of this course is to provide effective leadership skills for student leaders to help them develop an ethical, value grounded leadership style for future educational, organizational and community leadership roles. This particular section will focus on the role of leadership in the promotion of social justice through service-learning in an international setting.
SPN 1170 Spanish for Travel
This course is designed for students who wish to combine the study of Spanish with travel to a Spanish speaking region. This is a performance based course, and students are expected to actively participate at all times.
