Classroom Response System: Advanced Clickers
Faculty already using clicker technology in their classes will explore some of the advanced and time-saving features of this engaging technology.

Outcomes

  • Attendees will learn to use the "FastGrade" feature for exam grading (which eliminates Scantrons)
  • Use the new CPS/PowerPoint integration tool to develop and present questions within Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Transfer information between CPS and Blackboard

Online Plagiarism Prevention with Turnitin.com
Turnitin is the premier application for online plagiarism prevention. The product is useful for helping both faculty and students cope with the increasing demand for original and well-cited written work.

Outcomes

  • Understand the general purpose and scope of Turnitin and BCC's license
  • Develop a notification in their syllabi that informs students of the use of Turnitin;Create a faculty profile in Turnitin
  • Create a class in Turnitin
  • Create an assignment in the class;Upload a paper for the assignment
  • Review the Turnitin report on the paper;Learn how to train students on creating their profiles and uploading papers to Turnitin
  • Learn about integrating Turnitin with Blackboard/WebCT online classes
  • Locate additional resources supporting the use of Turnitin

Picasa for Digital Image Manipulation
Picasa is a free photo organizing, editing and sharing program from Google. In this class, you will learn to easily fix photo problems like red-eye, color, and lighting.  In addition, you will learn how to build photo slideshows, collages and web albums for displaying your photos.

Smartboards for Raising Student Engagement and Success
This workshop is for faculty who wish to increase student interactivity and engagement in the face-to-face classroom using a SMARTBOARD.  In 2 hours, you will learn how to effectively use the SMARTBOARD tools and to create engaging lessons for your students

Outcomes

  • Learn the benefits of the Smartboard for teaching and learning
  • Use multiple learning styles through the Smartboard to enhance learning and increase engagement
  • Prepare education students at Broward College for mastering the Smartboard technology utilized in Broward County Schools
  • Develop new and engaging strategies to help student learning

Tablet Talk:  Tablet PCs for Student Engagement
Faculty completing this workshop will examine the unique features and varieties of Tablet PCs.  Participants will then explore the educational applications of Tablet PCs to engage students and enhance learning.  Faculty are encouraged to bring Tablet PCs (available at all LRCs College-wide) to this workshop for a hands-on experience.

Outcomes 

  • Faculty will examine the different types of Tablet PCs available as well as their specific features.
  • Faculty will access Windows Journal and create Windows Journal documents.
  • Faculty will export Windows Journal documents into Microsoft Word and Web Archive documents.
  • Faculty will explore and use the Tablet PC mouse “pen” features to navigate through the Tablet PC.
  • Faculty will use the Tablet PC Input Panel to export typed and handwritten text and to transfer handwriting to text.
  • Faculty will explore and use the features of the Tablet PC Input Panel to create and navigate through documents in Microsoft Word as well as PowerPoint.
  • Faculty will use the Tablet PC Input Panel to create and respond to e-mail messages.
