College Preparatory Writing Skills I (ENC0010)

Catalog Course Description:
Co-requisite: College Preparatory Writing Skills I Lab (ENC0010L)
This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of grammar, mechanics, usage, sentence structure, and paragraph development. With a “D” or an “F,” a student must repeat the course. Credit for this course may not be used to meet degree requirements. Co-requisite: ENC0010L. Students must complete the 16-hour lab requirement to receive credit for ENC0010. Credit for this course may not be used to meet degree requirements.
16-hour Writing Lab Requirement: A writing laboratory component, focusing on your particular needs, supplements classroom instruction in ENC0010. You will have work assigned in the lab based on course objectives. You must complete the lab requirement to receive credit in ENC 0010 .
When you complete ENC0010, you should have improved in the following skill areas:
Demonstrating an understanding of grammatical, mechanical, and usage principles.
Writing a variety of sentence types.
Applying the principles of paragraph development.
A Warning About Placement into ENC0010. If you were required to take ESL1331 or ESL1441 and have not done so or if you took those courses and did not receive a grade of C or better in the last one, you must withdraw from this class. If you fail to do so, you will not receive credit for ENC0010, even though you may have completed all of the work.
Students may not audit college-preparatory courses. |
