College Preparatory Writing Skills II (ENC0021)

Catalog Course Description:
Co-requisite: College Preparatory Writing Skills II Lab (ENC0021L).
This course provides for the refinement of grammatical, mechanical, and usage principles and includes an overview of the strategies of paragraph and essay development. With a D or an F, a student must repeat the course. Co-requisite: ENC0021L. Students must complete the 16-hour lab requirement to receive credit for ENC0021. Credit for this course may not be used to meet degree requirements.
16-hour Writing Lab Requirement: A writing laboratory component, focusing on your particular needs, supplements classroom instruction in ENC0021. You will have work assigned in the lab based on course objectives. You must complete the lab requirement to receive credit in ENC 0021 .
When you complete ENC0021, you should have improved in the following skill areas:
1. Demonstrating an understanding of grammatical, mechanical, and usage principles.
2. Applying the principles of paragraph development.
3. Organizing and writing a grammatically correct, logical, coherent, and unified multi-paragraph essay.
Exit Exam for ENC0021. The State of Florida requires an exit exam for ENC 0021. In order to pass the course, you must achieve the minimum score on the exit exam. The exam consists of two parts: an objective subtest and a writing subtest. (For more information on the ENC0021 final examination, see the following section entitled “Exit Test for ENC0021.”)
Pre-requisite Warning. If you were required to take ENC0010 and have not done so, or if you took ENC0010 and did not receive a grade of C or better, you must withdraw from this class. If you fail to do so, you will not receive credit for ENC0021, even though you may have completed all of the work.
Students may not audit college-preparatory courses.
