Prerequisite: ENC1101 with a minimum grade of C
Co-requisite: None
A composition course focusing on writing for business, science, and technology. Assignments include papers, memos, resumes, reports, proposals, an oral presentation, and the use of graphics. Students use a variety of research and investigative techniques to produce in-depth documented papers on science, business, or technological subjects. Students must pass either ENC1102 or ENC2210 to fulfill Area 1B general education requirements and Area 7 for the writing requirements for the A.A. degree. Meets Area 5 general education requirements for the A.S. degree. Students must earn a minimum of C or better to meet the requirements of the Gordon Rule.

When you complete ENC2210, you should have improved in the following skill areas:
Demonstrating writing skills that are precise, concise, and grammatically and mechanically correct
Writing appropriate letters
Writing a personal resume and cover letter suitable for application
Interpreting data
Selecting and constructing appropriate graphics for written and oral reports
Writing an investigative, progress, or evaluation report
Writing a long report
Writing definitions and/or expanded definitions as separate reports or as component parts of another assignment
Describing and illustrating a simple mechanism
Writing and illustrating a set of operational instructions
Analyzing, writing about, and illustrating a process
Writing a paper employing appropriate documentation
Delivering an oral presentation before the class, utilizing any of the appropriate aforementioned units
This course is designed to prepare you to apply academic writing skills to the workplace. You study the principles of written communication in business and professional activities. You will be asked to prepare letters, proposals, charts, resumes, or a variety of other projects along with a documented paper.
It is your responsibility to read the course syllabus, keep up with assignments, and complete work on time.
Pre-requisite Warning. If you have not taken ENC1101 (or its equivalent at another institution), you must withdraw from this class. If you fail to do so, you will not receive credit for ENC2210, even though you may have completed all of the work.
