astronomical events to have deadly effects on earth. Will life on earth
be wiped out by global warming? What are the chances of a large asteroid
or comet smashing into the earth and obliterating life? Are there nearby
stars that could explode, bathing earth in deadly radiation? Can we protect
ourselves from Cosmic Catastrophes? The answers to these

Worlds of Wonder (Grades 5 and Up)
This program explores the wealth of recent discoveries that have been
made by unmanned spacecraft voyaging through our solar system. Find out
which planet has a volcano 15 miles high and big enough to cover the entire
state of Texas. What moon has ice volcanos and methane geysers? Which
planet is the biggest? The hottest? Which planets have rings? Where do
comets and asteroids come from? These and many other questions will be
answered as we explore Worlds of Wonder. This program
also includes a live sky tour of the current night sky featuring bright
stars, planets, and constellations.

The Cowboy Astronomer (Grades 6 and Up)
This laid back, humorous program takes a look at the night time sky as
seen through the eyes of a modern cowboy astronomer. Explore the constellations
as you enjoy hearing Native American and Greek legends about the sky.
Find out where to locate places in the sky where stars are being born
and where stars have died, as well as how the sky moves. Baxter Black,
a popular cowboy poet and author of ten books, narrates The Cowboy
Astronomer. He is best known for his work as a correspondent
for National Public Radio, where his down-home humor, poems, and stories
are enjoyed by millions.

The Explorers Project (Grades 6 and Up)
Adventurers and explorers have used the stars to navigate throughout
history. This program provides a unique look at human exploration of the
Pacific Ocean over the last 60,000 years. Join the Polynesian Voyaging
Society as they rediscover ancient navigational techniques. From a journey
onboard a Polynesian voyaging canoe to a launch at the Kennedy Space Center,
The Explorers Project examines the exploration of space,
our planet and the science and technology which support these activities.
The Explorers Project includes both celestial navigation
and anthropology. This show highlights the unique resources of Hawaii
and the Pacific, while sharing the universal spirit of human exploration.

See why the Mauna Kea mountain gives a stunning view of the night sky and learn about the telescopes and tools astronomers use on this remote mountain to explore the wonders of the Universe. The program includes a star tour of the evening sky.
