Awards Banquet
On Saturday April 12th, Downtown Center’s Student Life Office hosted its first annual Student Organization Awards banquet. The event took place on the 12th floor of the HEC building and guests were restricted by invitation only. This event was created as an opportunity to highlight and acknowledge hard-working and devoted students and club advisors who had gone above and beyond the call of duty within their organizations. Awards were given in several categories; clubs had individual awards for Member of the Year, Outstanding Member and Academic Excellence and Student Life had created specific award categories that honored the Club of the Year, the President’s Award and Academic Excellence. Clubs that were honored were Student Government Association, African American Student Union, American Institute for Architecture Students, El Club Hispano, Global Guild, Student Ambassadors, Christian Club and the Observer. Thirty-four students were honored for their service and dedication as student leaders and mentors.
The event was decorated in a star-burst theme and appropriately titled, DTC’s Stars Shine! There were approximately 65 guests including Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Eileen Holden and Vice-President of Student Affairs, Robert Cabello
