BCCs Downtown Center hosted a Block Party on February
28th to celebrate Black History Month. The celebration was organized by
DTCs African American Student Union and Student Affairs, and it
included Gospel music by Marianne Asiamigbe from Central Campus Student
Success, African drumming and dancing (with audience participation!) with
Drumming by Indakthe, music by DJ Opie from Power96, and, of course, food.
Broward Health Dept. gave free HIV and hepatitis testing all day. Broward
Board of Elections showed students how to use the new touch-screen voting
booths. And Police Sgt. Reeder gave demonstrations on personal safety.
Youll notice in the pictures that people are dressed warmly for
the unusually cold day. Also notice that there was some serious eating
going on!
