BCCs Downtown Center hosted a gala Open House for
Broward residents who have an interest in attending college, learning
about financial aid, and finding out more about the state-of-the-art technology
at their BCC Downtown Center. Diana Martin coordinated the event, which
featured a keynote presentation by Downtown Center Administrator, Linda
Liberman. Director of Instructional Programs, Ken Williams, spoke about
the technical innovations and new programs housed in the new Downtown
Higher Educational Complex building.
Other speakers included Donna Henderson on Dual Enrollment, Claudia Sahagun
on Occupational Spanish Programs, and Joe King on Financial Aid for college
students. Michelle Forman, Chairperson of the BCC Student Ambassadors,
sang Glad to Be an American, always an appropriate and welcomed
favorite.
The Marketplace featured tables with representatives and materials
from Counseling and Advising, Disabilities Services, BrowardCounty Libraries,
Florida Atlantic University, Financial Aid, and Student Life. Architecture
Professor Claudio Noriegas class presented almost a dozen architectural
models of buildings and constructions, detailed and intricate, creative
and fascinating. Visitors toured the facility with students and Student
Ambassadors, including Chairperson/Singer Michelle Forman, Michael Larkins,
Nicky Jones, Sonyia Gayot, Kate Kezua, Tris Milt, Allison Ulmer, and Barbara
Driham.
