“Aloha!” sums up the Welcome Back celebration which kicked off the start of the fall term here at BCC’s downtown center. That day the Hawaiian theme transformed the campus into a little slice of tranquility. There were beautiful leis decorating the necks of students who also partook in the varieties of food, listened to music and watched the hula dance. In addition to the apparent festivities, many organizations came out to the event, brought to downtown campus by SGA (Student Government), some of which include our own Christian Club, Student Ambassadors Club, and a new support group for victims of sexual assault. And with the growing epidemic of the HIV virus (which causes AIDS), offering free blood tests, administered by Broward County’s Health Department, not only benefited the students, but the entire community at-large. There were also in attendance representatives from Lynn University, Bank of America, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
