Dean of Academic Resources and Instructional
Technology
Academic Resources
and Instructional Technology is dedicated to supporting the educational
programs at both the South Campus and Pines Center through a wide range
of state-of-the-art instructional technology and educational resources.
Included in this department are all library services, student academic
support labs, the word Processing Center and Instructional Technology
Support staff.
The South Regional
Library on South Campus, and the Southwest Regional Library located at
the Pines Center represents a unique partnership between the College and
the Broward County Public Library System. The mission of the library is
to develop both a physical collection as well as electronic access to
additional resources and databases that directly support both the teaching
and research needs of the campus community. The latest technologies allow
access to this information both on the campus as well as from a distance.
Professional staff provides helpful and expert instruction in the utilization
of both traditional and electronic resources.
Both locations
house a student academic support lab, specializing in Writing, Reading,
Mathematics, Modern Foreign Language, and ESL. These labs provide tutoring
and other services which are specifically designed to promote student
academic success.
Both the Word
Processing Center and Instructional Technology Staff service the entire
campus. The Word Processing Center directly supports the faculty and staff
in the production of professional classroom and instructional support
materials, while the Instructional Technology staff's task is to keep
the campus network and individual PC's operational. Every faculty member
on the campus has a computer in his/her office, and over half of the classrooms
are equipped with computerized teaching stations. Students have access
to multiple open labs with open Internet access in order to utilize their
student e-mail accounts and complete their course assignments.
South Campus is
definitely on the cutting edge of technological and academic support to
its students, faculty and staff.
