Seminole Presence at South Campus Seminole Presence at BCC South Campus I am happy to announce that the Seminole Project is proceeding smoothly at BCC South: two round chickee structures of 18 feet in diameter each are being erected between buildings 70, 71 and 69. These chickees are created by a Seminole company, headed by Joe Dan Osceola. Mr. Osceola is a former chief of the Tribe, and a recognized cultural historian. The completion of these chickees will be announced, and an official opening event is being planned for the first week in September, tentatively scheduled for September 5tt 2007. Soon the students will be able to enjoy the comfort of the chickees as they will use them for their study and rest purposes. The following is scheduled at BCC south campus: the First Annual Seminole Arts and Culture Symposium that will take place in the fall on September 18th 2007, and a group exhibition of the talented Artists Seminoli will be featured at The Art Gallery during January and February of 2008; it will open on January 10th of 2008. I will be posting more information on these events in the near future.
