Step 1: Apply to Broward College (BC). Read and follow the instructions for applying to the college on the Admissions Information & Application Page. Part of the application process includes having your transcripts sent from other colleges/universities to BC. You may also need to meet with an advisor to complete any placement tests and evaluate transcripts.
Step 2: Complete the Pre-Health Science Core Requirements. After submitting a Medical Assisting Program application, but prior to entering the program, you must successfully complete the following courses*:
HCP 0130 Health Care Career Course
CAE 0382 HIV/AIDS
CAE 0476 TB/OSHA/Hepatitis
CAE 0299 Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (CPR)
CAE 0474 Domestic Violence
CAE 0528 Prevention of Medical Errors
*Note: The above courses may be "waived" or substituted for those students that have prior training, coursework, or current CPR certification.
Step 3: Apply to the Medical Assisting Program. Submit a Health Science Limited Access Admission Application . Besides successful completion of the prerequisite courses, applicants must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and must obtain TABE Assessment scores at or above the state level in order to be eligible for program admission. Applicants must complete a typing test verifying 35 WPM proficiency. Applicants must call 954-201-6906 in order to make arrangements to take this test.
Step 4: Complete Admission Requirements. Upon acceptance in the program, students are required to obtain a Criminal Background Check, Drug Screen, and Physical Examination.

Waiting List: There is no waiting list to get into the Medical Assisting program at Broward College. Each year applicants are accepted based on the date of application, & the number of seats available. Applicants who are not admitted must reapply for the following year.
