Medical Assisting

Medical Assisting as a Profession

Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing occupations. Individuals who work in this field are called Medical Assistants or MA’s. Medical Assistants work closely with physicians and are responsible for interacting with a variety of health care personnel and patients. Medical Assistants practice in private physician offices, out-patient centers, clinics, research laboratories, governmental agencies, and other industries.

The demand for Medical Assistants in the United States continues to place the profession among the top 10 health care professions of the future. This demand is fueled by an increase in natural population growth, a greater life span for individuals, and an increasing demand for ambulatory healthcare, diagnosis and prevention of disease.
