Broward College’s Central Campus and Florida Atlantic University’s Davie Campus are together sponsoring “Zumba to End Abuse,” an effort to break the Guinness world record for largest campus Zumba class on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10 a.m.
The event is intended to raise awareness about domestic violence and to raise funds for the College Brides Walk and No More Tears, local efforts related to domestic violence.
The site for the event is Broward College’s baseball field. Gates will open at 10 a.m. for registration and check-in at the pavilion just east of right field. Speakers will get the crowd pumped up between 11 and 11:30 a.m. The Zumba class, led by Broward College language professor Claudia Sahagun, a certified Zumba instructor, will take place between 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available after the class.
The event is free for all college and high school students with a valid school ID. For members of the general public, a $5 donation will be accepted. Interested persons are encouraged to register in advance, as space is limited. More information about how to register and directions is available at www.collegebrideswalk.com.
