We all know someone who needed a second chance. We all know someone who deserved a new start. It may be the immigrant, hungry and desperate to realize his dream in this magnificent country through education. It may be the girl who had children at a young age, who wants to improve the quality of life for her and her family, through education. It may be the child who was always told “you can’t” that now believes he can through education. We have all heard their stories, we all know their faces. Some of them are even here today.

Broward College makes these dreams happen every day. I know. I have seen it.
When my Office was commissioned to design this parking garage, I did not see it as an elevated concrete and steel storage structure for 1,000 cars. I imagined it as something far more beautiful, far more relevant. I dreamed it and then designed it as a gateway building allowing 1,000 more potential students including those seeking that second chance to pursue and realize their dreams.

This gateway is for accessibility to education. This gateway is for those that dare dream. This gateway is for a better future. This gateway is for knowledge. This gateway is for the Great American Promise. This gateway is for you.
