Financial Aid is a combination of grants, scholarships, work-study and loans to help finance the cost of education.
Step One
Apply for admission to Broward College and complete the admission’s process as early as possible. Submit official copies of your high school and post-secondary transcripts.
Step Two
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov (Broward College's school code is 001500). Broward College strongly encourages students and parents to elect the IRS data retrieval option when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web. This will greatly expedite the processing of your financial aid.
Step Three
Visit www.broward.edu/sfs to read important financial aid information.
Step Four
You must register for classes before you turn in any pending documents and to finalize the Financial Aid Process. MyBC
Step Five
Fulfill any outstanding requirements as early as possible. The financial aid process is not complete until you have done so.
- Log onto MyBC with your Student ID and password. Click on Financial Aid/Veterans, check on application status to view required documents. These are necessary to complete the financial aid process.
- All red flags are requirements that must be satisfied to process and complete your financial aid.
- Make sure to completely fill out and sign all documents before submitting.
- Check myBC regularly to ensure all financial aid requirements have been satisfied.
Step Six
What happens next?
- Broward College will process your aid and determine your eligibility for grants, loans and work-study.
- To be considered for scholarships you must submit a scholarship application (link to scholarship app should be provided)
- For loans you must complete the loan process found at: Loan Process
- Once your financial aid is awarded, based on your eligibility your fees may be covered.
- If you have enough funds, a maximum of $700 will go to your bookstore account to purchase books during the dates the bookstore is open for financial aid purchases. Book Store
- Your class attendance must be verified by your instructor before the funding is received. Keep in mind that the refund process takes several weeks; therefore you should set aside personal funds to cover living expenses incurred during the first few weeks of classes.
Step Seven:
- Our main form of communication is BC email; therefore check it on a regular basis.
- Continuously check your status by logging onto myBC, click on Financial Aid, then click on Application Status and/or Award Status.
- Visit the Financial Aid Page regularly.
