Foundation Scholarships


 

The Foundation provides many types of scholarships through the charitable gifts of individuals, corporations and other Foundations.


General Criteria:

    • 2.0 Cumulative GPA (for most scholarships).
    • Must demonstrate need by completing a Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) and have a complete financial aid file.
    • Must be a full time or part time student.
    • Be a US citizen or eligible non citizen.
    • Must have graduated from High School with a standard high school diploma, or be a home schooled graduate or GED recipient. Transfer students who previously attended another college or university are required to submit official high school transcripts if they have transferred less than 24 credits at the college level.

Please download one application and submit to your campus Student Financial Services. We will review your application and match you for a scholarship.

 

Children’s Opportunity Group

  • Complete FAFSA application
  • 2.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in  minimum of 6 credits
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Broward County Resident
  • Must have been raised in a foster home or by a legal guardian

The Dana & Charlie Fund

  • Complete FAFSA application
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in  minimum of 6 credits (Complete at least 16 cr. per academic yr.)
  • Must be involved in Service learning in the community

Joseph Fink Memorial Scholarship

  • Complete FAFSA application
  • 2.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in  minimum of 6 credits
  • Area of study: Criminal Justice
  • Recent High School Graduate
  • Jewish Student

Assistance Unlimited

  • Complete FAFSA application
  • 2.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in  minimum of 6 credits (Preference will be given to full-time students)
  • Must have a child in campus daycare
  • Not receiving subsidy from the College

The AutoNation Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • Student must be an AutoNation employee or child of AutoNation employee
  • Broward County Resident
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits

Coca Cola

  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • 100 hours of Community Service (demonstrated through BC, church, schools, clubs…)
  • Students must submit a verification letter and detailed description to confirm community service hours

Fred Deal Endowed Scholarship

  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Area of Study: Fire Science

Executives’ Association of Fort Lauderdale

  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Area of study: AA in Health Sciences, Journalism, or Aviation
  • Employee or dependent of Executives’ Association member

Joseph Fink

  • Complete FAFSA application
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in  minimum of 6 credits
  • Area of study: Criminal Justice
  • Recent High School graduate
  • Jewish student

Billy  Fast Memorial Merit Scholarship
Scholarship #1- Professional Pilot Training Program –
Applicant must:

  • Have completed a commercial certificate or higer
  • Be enrolled in courses seeking additional ratings
  • Provide a brief descrition of future objectives and why they are deserving of the scholarship
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Be a US Citizen

 

Scholarship #2- Aviation Maintenance Management Program –
Applicant must:

  • Have successfully completed a minimum of theree terms at Broward College Aviation Institute
  • Posses a minimum  of either a FAA Airframe or Powerplant license.
  • Be seeking an AAS degree from Broward College in Aviation Maintenance Management
  • Provide a minimum of a one page dissertation of why aviation is their desired career, their future goals and objectives, how the scholarship would help meet those goals and objectives and why they are deserving of the scholarship                                                        
  • Have a 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Be a US Citizen

The Marti Huizenga Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • Students must be (or have been) members of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County
  • Must submit a letter of verification to confirm that they are/were a member of the Boys and Girls Club
  • Students must be degree seeking (AA or AS)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits

James B. Pirtle Construction Company Endowed Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA: 2.5
  • Area of Study: Building Construction Technology
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Resident of Broward County
  • Complete FAFSA

Dan Marino Foundation Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Student in the Communities and Schools or Outreach Broward programs

G.W. “Bill” McCall Journalism Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Area of Study: Print Journalism, Media, Broadcast or Public Relations or member of the Observer staff in any major
  • Sophomore with at least 25 credits
  • Applicant must submit:
    • BC Scholarship application
    • Evidence of term enrollment
    • Academic transcript
    • 3 letters of recommendation from individuals (not relatives) who can attest to their academic ability
    • Portfolio of Journalism achievements
    • Personal biographical sketch with details of career goals

Mr. & Mrs. Moore C. Perfect Memorial Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Junior or Senior majoring in Math Education or Science Education
  • US Citizen
  • Broward County Resident
  • Must have completed a minimum of one college semester

Sherri Poel Memorial Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Area of Study: Aviation
  • Must demonstrate flying ability through receipt of private pilot’s license
  • Must be enrolled in professional pilot technology program and enrolled in or completing a flight course

Jeffrey W. Simon/IAEI Scholarship

  • Full-time: enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits
  • Broward County Resident
  • Area of Study: Construction Technology
  • IAEI Division member or relative

Sun-Sentinel Endowed Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Resident of Broward or Palm Beach County
  • Employees of the Sun-Sentinel and/or recipients of any of the charities funded by the Sun-Sentinel
  • Must submit a letter from the Sun-Sentinel or organization funded by the Sun-Sentinel stating their eligibility for the award

Virginia S. Young Scholarship

  • Female student aspiring to a career in politics, government, or public service
  • Leadership role in High School, at Broward College or in the Community (Documentation needed)
  • Complete FAFSA
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits

Philip Miles Zeltner Memorial Scholarship

  • 2.5 GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Area of Study: Fine Arts
  • Graduate of Hallandale High School

The Helios Education Foundation First Generation Scholars

  • Complete FAFSA
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Students preparing a career in education with the intent to become a teacher in the state of Florida (must be explained in essay, long term goals…)
  • Must take/have taken Student Life Skills course in first year of study
  • First Generation in College


Award Amount-up to $3000 for 2 terms
Criteria:

 

  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Full Time (10 or more credits)
  • Part Time (5 -9 credits)
  • Students must demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a complete financial aid file.
  • Students must have been admitted in the Nursing program with a 3.0 GPA and have successfully completed Health Alterations 1 (NUR1220) or Nursing Processing 2 (NUR1210).
  • Students must have completed all pre-requisites for the nursing program to be considered.
  • Students must agree to sign a letter of intent to work in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Monroe counties for a minimum of 1 year for each year they are awarded.
