Foundation Scholarships


 

The Foundation provides many types of scholarships through the charitable gifts of individuals, corporations and other Foundations.


General Criteria:

    • 2.0 Cumulative GPA (for most scholarships).
    • Must demonstrate need by completing a Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA).
    • Must be a full time or part time student.
    • Be a US citizen or eligible non citizen.
    • Must have graduated from High School with a standard high school diploma, or be a home schooled graduate or GED recipient. Transfer students who previously attended another college or university are required to submit official high school transcripts if they have transferred less than 24 credits at the college level.

Please download one application and submit to your campus Student Financial Services. We will review your application and match you for a scholarship.


Criteria:

  • 2.0 GPA.
  • Full Time (12 or more credits)/ Part Time (6-11 credits).
  • Must demonstrate need by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid at
    www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Area of study: Accepted into and enrolled in any nursing or Health Science program.
  • Florida Resident.
Student interested must print and complete a 2008-2009 BC Scholarship application.
Please indicate the name of this scholarship on top of your application
and submit to the Student Financial Services Office on campus.


 

Criteria:

  • Merit Based.
  • FAFSA must be Completed and All Documents must be turned in.
  • GPA 3.0.
  • Taking 10 credits or more.
  • Nursing Major.
Please submit:
  • Your resume.
  • 500 word essay; On what you feel you can contribute to the nursing profession.

Criteria:

Area of Study-Architecture.
• 3.0 GPA.
• Full Time (12 or more credits).
• Part-time (6 -11 credits).
• Preference for an African American, black resident alien or black international student.

Available to international students who have proper documentation.
Award Amount: Tuition, fees, and books.

  • Area of Study: Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
  • 2.0 GPA.
  • Full Time (12 or more credits).
  • Part Time (6-11 credits).
  • Renewable Scholarship.

Criteria:
  • Merit Based - GPA 3.0.
  • Financial Need Based (students must complete a FAFSA form and have a complete financial aid file)
  • Full Time / Part Time.
  • Area of study: Environmental Science including Environmental Science A.A. (Preference) or Environmental Science Technology A.S.
  • Female (serious student in second year of study at BC).
  • Florida Resident.

Criteria:


  • 2.5 GPA.
  • Full/ part time student.
  • Must demonstrate Financial Need by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Students enrolled in any Holocaust history course through Broward College’s study abroad travel program:
    • Holocaust- EUH 2033.
    • Introduction to Ethics-PHI 2600.
If these courses are not offered, a student may complete the scholarship requirements with the following courses:
  • Social Problems- SYG 2010.
  • Survey of Jewish Culture- JST 1500.
  • Survey of Jewish Civilization- JST 2400.
  • History of Modern Israel- JST 2815.
  • World Religions- Rel 2300.
  • History of Modern Israel.
  • Sociology - TEA.
  • Social, Multicultural Issues and field experience- SYG 1913C.
  • Social Institutions- SYG 2441.
  • Cross Disciplinary Leadership (Honors Institute course- IDH 2408.)

Recipients of the Sonnenklar scholarship will also be encouraged to attend the holocaust Documentation Center’s Holocaust Survivors workshop held annually at Broward College’s South Campus and must write a paper on the presentation.

The G.W. "Bill" McCall Journalism Scholarship is an annual scholarship designed to help defray the cost of tuition books and supplies for students.


Eligibility:

  • Be a Sophomore with at least 25 credits and a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be majoring in Print Journalism Media, Broadcast or Public Relations.
Although it is not required, we recommend that students complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov.

In order to apply for the scholarship, the applicant must submit the following:
  1. A BCC Scholarship Application (please see below).
  2. A McCall Journalism Scholarship Application (please contact Jennifer Shapiro for the application).
  3. Evidence of term enrollment.
  4. Academic transcript.
  5. Three letters of recommendation from individuals (not relatives) who can attest to your academic ability.
  6. A portfolio of your journalism achievement.
  7. A personal biographical sketch with details of your career goals.
