Work-Study is a federally funded need-based program. You must apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA on the Web and say "yes" to work study to be considered eligible.
Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or eligible non-citizen.
Be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits in a financial aid approved academic program leading to a degree or certificate.
Not be in default of any federal Title IV loan program or owe a repayment of federal and/or state grant(s).
Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the priority deadline of April 15th. If funds are available, students who apply after that deadline date may still be considered for work-study.
Demonstrate financial need.
Maintain good academic standing and satisfactory academic progress.
Click Work Study Jobs to view available jobs and select one by clicking the job number.
Visit the Student Financial Services Office to determine eligibility where you will receive a referral card indicating the weekly hours you may work.
Call the employing department where the job is located and schedule an interview.
Download the Student Employment Packet if you are a new student in the work-study program and bring it with you to the interview. You also need to bring the referral card that you received from the Financial Aid Adviser indicating your eligibility to the interview.
Once you have secured the job, submit the forms to the Student Employment office for processing.

Remember:
To be eligible for work-study, a student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
A student who is interested in working with the Florida Work Experience Program or the America Reads Program must be fingerprinted by the Broward County School Board prior to the start of employment and should not begin working until he/she is approved by the Student Employment Office.
After you are approved by the Student Employment Office, your supervisor will be notified as to when you may begin to work and how many hours per week you will be eligible to work.
Students are paid bi-monthly via mailed check or by completing and submitting the Direct Deposit form to the Student Financial Services Office. This form will allow us to have your check directly deposited in your bank account. Forms can be found at the forms page. Students who submit the Direct Deposit form must also complete the Security Clearance forms since pay stubs can only be viewed online. All time sheets must be faxed and/or submitted via campus mail before the due date for students to be paid. You will be given a work study payroll calendar by your supervisor to use as your guide.
The majority of the work study jobs are on campus. America Reads program and the Florida Work Experience Program provides the students with the opportunity to work as a tutor and/or teacher assistant in elementary and middle schools.
Yes, your earnings are taxable. A W-2 will be mailed to you from the payroll department at the end of each year. However, your work study earnings should not be included as income on your financial aid form for the following academic year.
All students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits for the entire summer (at least 6 credits in Session 1 only, or a combination of at least 6 credits in Sessions 1 and 2, 1 and 3, or 2 and 3).
